Unit of Competency UEPOPS351 - Operate H.V. condition changing apparatus
Description
Employability Skills
Learning Outcomes and Application This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to undertake the operation of all High Voltage (H.V.) condition changing apparatus.H.V. condition changing apparatus can include on and off load transformer tap changers, capacitor banks, rotary converters, voltage regulators, reactors, current limiters, rectifiers and transformers. H.V. changing apparatus works within system parameters such as voltage, current, frequency, volt ampere reactive load and equipment capability. Competency in this unit requires the ability to plan and prepare work, operate H.V. condition change apparatus and report on H.V. condition during operation. Individuals will, in general, work under supervision, in a power generation facility as an operator.Power generation plant operators are typically trained and authorised to isolate, prepare plant and issue permits to work.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.Note: Workplace practiceThe application of the skills and knowledge described in this unit may require a licence or training permit to practice in the workplace where work is carried out on gas and electrical installations. Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.

Range is restricted to essential operating conditions and any other variables essential to the work environment.

Non-essential conditions may be found in the Companion Volume Implementation Guide.

Copy and paste from the following performance criteria to create an observation checklist for each task. When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. To ensure this occurs download the assessment matrix for the unit; enter each assessment task as a column header and place check marks against each performance criteria that task addresses.
